Auditions require technical competency, instrumental athleticism, ability to sound beautiful and effortless under intense pressure, laser focus, calm mind, and preparation for unexpected hurdles. Costs of airfare, hotels, meals, lessons, cancelled work, and other lost performance opportunities mean you want to maximize your potential for success when committing to an audition.

COAP will give you the experiential training needed to succeed at your audition while working with your existing schedule.

Our unique program offers the highest level of one-on-one personal feedback from musicians who have successfully navigated the audition process in front of and behind the screen. We fully utilize a highly energized studio-like environment providing feedback through numerous peer trials that will illustrate your current and potential capabilities. Demonstrating how implementing and consolidating the feedback you receive from COAP teachers and peers will prepare you for the rigorous audition process.

“The excerpts became a vehicle for me to really explore different ways of preparing music and to overall become a more consistent and better performer”

— Cellist Will Teegarden

“Over the course of my career, I have taken more auditions than I care to remember. In some, I didn’t play well enough to win. In others, I was very well prepared, but something distracted me, or one of my weaknesses held me back. Throughout the many auditions, I had to continually rethink, optimize, and refine my preparation. I have found that the most difficult thing to do is create strategies to hold yourself accountable during the preparation process, and then during the audition, play musically with a beautiful sound no matter what time you play, who else is in your round or on the committee, or if you feel you or your cello are not sounding as perfect as the previous day. Through the individual lessons, studio classes, peer sessions, and mock auditions, this course will identify what works best for you personally and maximize your potential for success! Doing well in an orchestral audition can change your life. Don’t fall short of your career aspirations. Let the COAP program give you the best chance of winning. I look forward to working with you.”
